When you write in, it helps to include: your iOS version, whether the document was signed on your own device or sent to someone else, and — if a signing link is involved — the document title. Please do not email us the document itself.
Signing your own documents is free, unlimited, and permanent. There is no trial, no watermark, and no account required. Inkstone Pro is only for sending documents to other people; the free tier includes three sends a month.
No. They open the link in whatever browser is already on their phone and sign there. They do not install anything and do not create an account.
Documents stored on our servers are deleted 90 days after signing — for everyone, Pro included. The app shows the remaining days on each document and we email a reminder on day 75. Leave "save a copy to Files" switched on and you will always keep your own copy, which we cannot delete.
No. After the 90-day purge the file is gone from our systems and we have no way to recover it. This is the same policy that keeps other people's passport and ID numbers from sitting on a server indefinitely.
Signing links expire 14 days after they are created. A link also only exists on the device that created it — if you reinstalled the app or switched devices, open the document and choose Generate Signing Link to issue a new one.
Inkstone records what electronic signature law asks for: your explicit consent to sign electronically, a timestamp, and a SHA-256 digest of the document before and after signing. Documents you send additionally record a server timestamp, the recipient's IP address, and when the link was first opened.
We label the two clearly and differently — Self-Signed versus Verified Remote Signature — because they do not carry the same evidentiary weight. Whether any given signature is binding depends on your jurisdiction and the type of document. We are not lawyers and this is not legal advice.
No. They are blank formatting scaffolds — where the fields go, nothing more. They contain no statutory contract text and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer.
Settings → Delete Account & All Data. It removes your account, every envelope, every stored file, and the audit records, immediately and irreversibly. Copies already saved to your Files app or iCloud Drive are yours and are untouched.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple. Cancel in the iOS Settings app under your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; refunds are handled by Apple, not by us.
If you have found a bug, a wrong translation, or something that reads as misleading, please tell us — particularly anything about the audit trail or the free/paid boundary. Those two we treat as urgent.
