Inkstone

Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 September 2026

Inkstone is an electronic signature app for sending documents out to be signed. This page explains exactly what leaves your phone, when, and for how long we keep it.

Preparing a document sends us nothing

Importing a PDF, scanning a page, placing signature fields, and building templates all happen entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded while you prepare a document, and drafts and templates you never send are never transmitted to us.

Documents live in your app's storage and, if you leave the default on, are also saved to your Files app and iCloud Drive — which is Apple's service, governed by Apple's privacy policy, not ours.

Sending a document to someone else

If you ask Inkstone to create a signing link, the document is uploaded to our servers so the recipient can open it in a browser. At that point we hold:

WhatWhyKept for
The PDF, before and after signingSo the recipient can open and sign it90 days after signing
Recipient name and email addressTo address the invitation and the audit page90 days after signing
SHA-256 digests of the fileTamper evidence on the audit page90 days after signing
Server timestamps, IP address, browser user agentThe audit trail that makes a remote signature verifiable90 days after signing
Your account identifierTo show you your own documentsUntil you delete your account

Ninety days, for everyone

Every stored document is deleted 90 days after it is signed — on the free tier and on Inkstone Pro alike. This is deliberate. Signed documents routinely contain other people's passport numbers and national identity numbers, and we would rather not hold that indefinitely.

The app shows the remaining days on each document so you can save your own copy before it goes. Turn on the automatic copy to Files and iCloud Drive and this takes care of itself. After deletion we cannot recover the file for you.

Accounts

Inkstone requires no sign-in. There is no registration screen, and we never ask for your name, your email address, or a password. The app creates an anonymous identifier on your device so our servers can tell your documents apart from someone else's, and that identifier is all we hold about you.

Against that anonymous identifier we store only the envelopes you created and your subscription status. Because we never collect a password, there is nothing for us to leak.

Deleting your account

Settings → Delete Account & All Data removes your account, every envelope you created, every stored file, and the audit records attached to them, from our servers. It is immediate and irreversible. Documents already saved to your own Files or iCloud Drive are yours and are not touched.

What we do not do

Who else touches the data

Only the services needed to run the product:

Children

Inkstone is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to processing. Account deletion is built into the app; for anything else, email us and we will respond within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where the change affects how we handle documents you have already signed, notify you in the app.
